Have you ever looked at your water bottle and noticed how terribly plain it is? Perhaps you go out to find some stickers to accessorize it with, only to find that all the stickers are, simply put, not good-looking? There’s an easy solution to this problem: make your own!

There are several ways to go about making stickers at home. You might be wondering, how can there be different types of stickers? Isn’t a sticker just a sticker?

Well, yes and no. There are different ways to cut the sticker and that’s what makes them unique.

Kiss-cut stickers are stickers that only cut through the vinyl layer while the backing paper stays intact.

By using this style of design, you can fit many different stickers onto one sheet of paper. Many people favor this type of cut because it makes it easier to peel the sticker off of the paper and you save some space.

There are machines that can cut the sticker shape out for you and make the process go fairly quickly. But not everybody has this machine and that’s okay! There are still plenty of ways one can make their own customized kiss-cut stickers without the advantage of having a cutting machine.

Supplies You Will Need

When it comes to making stickers at home, there are not too many items that you are going to need to buy.

You just need a few supplies: paper, pens, ink, a paper-knife/letter opener, and a printer.

However, the most important thing you will need in order to create a great sticker is a creative mind. You have to be the one to come up with a great design, and that can be a little bit intimidating. Of course, if you don’t happen to like the way that your sticker turns out you can always try again!

Paper

Arguably the most important supply you will need is the inkjet-printable vinyl paper. This type of paper is what makes the sticker sticky.

You will add this paper to the printer’s paper feed and the printer will do the rest.

Or if you want to go the daring route, you can draw your own sticker from scratch onto the paper.

Pen

The easiest way to create the image you have in mind is to simply draw it. If you don’t have a printer or if you want to be more authentic and start from scratch, then go for it!

If you can’t find the image you have in mind anywhere on the Internet, draw your own!

Printer

Using a printer is very simple—just find the image you want and then print it. If you have an iPad or a program on your computer that allows you to create your own image, you can also go that route instead of free-hand drawing the image you want.

If you are no artist and you found an image you like online, there’s nothing wrong with copying and pasting and printing it out. Of course, anytime you want to do this for a business or some other commercial use, you need to make sure you have permission from the image source.

Letter Opener/ Paper-Knife

You are not going to want to use scissors to create kiss-cut stickers. A letter opener, also known as a paper-knife, will give you that kiss-cut effect.

It might be a little tedious trying to make sure that you are putting the right amount of pressure onto the paper and not cutting into the backing paper, however, with a little bit of practice, you will eventually get the hang of it! Nothing is wrong with cutting into the backing paper, it just might make it a little harder to take the sticker off.

What to Use Stickers For

You can create all sorts of different stickers for various purposes.

A lot of brands use stickers to promote their businesses. Sometimes people use stickers simply for the purpose of having fun. Using stickers as an organizational tool has become fairly popular recently.

Promote Your Business

In order to effectively promote your business, you need to have your business logo on your sticker. The more people you give stickers to, the more promotion you will likely get. A lot of people put unique stickers on their water bottles or their laptop computers.

Some companies choose to promote their business with items such as water bottles already imprinted with their logo. However, creating a sticker is cheaper than getting a water bottle. Many people already have a water bottle and they might not want to pay for another one, but not everyone has your company logo sticker, and those stickers are cheaper to make once more people want them.

Organize Your Space

Organizing things has recently become a popular trend for content creators. They create videos where they organize their kitchen, more specifically their refrigerator. You too can organize your supplies and give your space that aesthetic look.

You can use kiss-cut stickers as labels in your closet, refrigerator, and any other place you see fit. Taking the time to organize your space (even if it’s just for a video) can be refreshing. Who knows, maybe you will make a video and get ten thousand plus views because of how amazing your space looks. All thanks to your organizational kiss-cut stickers.

Make Stickers for Fun

Sometimes you don’t need to have a reason for creating a sticker. Maybe you just really want to have a cute little sticker on your computer or your water bottle that displays a part of your personality.

Maybe you are having a birthday party come up and you want to give your guests a sticker to remember the party. Whatever the case, stickers are fun to use!

Kiss-Cut Stickers Are Easy to Make

As you can see, you don’t need too many supplies when it comes to making a cute kiss-cut sticker. There are many places you can use stickers.

If you have a business, try doing the sticker route instead of selling water bottles. If you want to organize your space, use stickers for labels. If you want to create some stickers for pure enjoyment, go ahead! No matter what you are creating your stickers for, have fun creating them!
